Simple composition that started with an outfitdesign in black and white. The colors were added using Painter. I would like to have feedback on the design of the suit. This is a piece I created for a friend. Because I did not had a model avaiable I based this nude on a model I found in a tutoriol for watercolor. I wanted to create something from myself, so I made the model more slim, added a background, gave her a hat and used the glazing technique. This painting is build up with different layers, in the same way the old masters did it. First a sketch in umber, then a layer with blue for the shadows, then a glazing layer with the midtones and at last a layer with the highlights. With every new layer the opacy was increased. The rose represents the mother, the leaves her family. They both cannot live seperated. This piece was created for a mother that went through a very difficult time in her life. Regardless of all difficulties she had to face she stayed to her role as a mother.
